January 9, 2024 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese army on Tuesday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of setting fire to the Sahil and Sahara Tower, a prominent building in Khartoum.
“In line with its pattern of destroying public and private facilities and targeting civilian infrastructure, the terrorist Daglo militia set fire to the Sahil and Sahara bank tower in Khartoum yesterday, Monday, completely burning it down,” the army spokesman said.
“The tower is one of the capital’s main landmarks and houses the headquarters of several private and public companies in addition to the Sahel and Sahara bank,” he added.
The Sudanese army and paramilitary forces have been trading accusations of destroying the country’s infrastructure as they seek to prevent each other from gaining control of strategic positions.
However, the RSF did not respond to these accusations as it has done in the past.
