Uganda Premier League (UPL) Board chairman Arinaitwe Rugyendo has bemoaned the unexpected demise of marketing expert, Esther Musoke, whose vibrant energy had ignited a spark of hope in the hearts of many.
Musoke passed on at Mengo Hospital on Thursday evening after a short spell of illness.
By the time of her sudden departure, she was halfway her six-month probationary period as UPL’s Chief Commercial Officer, after being appointed at the end of September last year.
In his emotional tribute, Rugyendo expresses concern about the big vacuum left by Esther’s passing, who ignited hope in the revival of Uganda Premier League’s remarkable future.
“Today, we gather together to honor the life and legacy of Esther Musoke, a remarkable individual who graced our presence as the Chief Commercial Officer of the Uganda Premier League.”
“In October 2023, Esther joined our league with enthusiasm, dedication, and a burning passion to develop our brand and elevate it to new heights,” Rugyendo’s emotional farewell continues.
“Her arrival brought a vibrant energy that ignited a spark of hope in the hearts of all who encountered her.
“Esther’s role as the center of Uganda Premier League’s commercial strategy was a testament to her expertise and drive.”
She served as FUFA’s Marketing Manager for eight years between 2014 and 2022, before joining Majestic Brands in Bulange, Mengo, where her tenure was short-lived.
“The company held high expectations for her, recognizing her remarkable ability to attract sponsors and pave the way for a prosperous future.”
“She immersed herself in the design and implementation of our commercial strategy, leaving behind a trail of promising clients in the pipeline.”
Rugyendo further sings praise of Esther’s practical approach as a marketer with open demeanor that cultivated trust and clarity in her relationships.
“We were confident in her abilities, with three successful months during her six-month probationary period. What set Esther apart was her practical approach as a marketer. She was not one for theory and ambiguity; Instead, she embraced a straightforward and open demeanor that cultivated trust and clarity in her relationships.”
“Moreover, Esther was an incredibly well-organized individual, paying meticulous attention to detail to ensure every aspect of her work was executed flawlessly. Her commitment to her craft was unwavering, and she had a genuine passion for the success of the Uganda Premier League.
“However, today, we are gathered here not to celebrate Esther’s achievements, but to mourn her unexpected passing. Her sudden departure has shaken us to the core and left a deep wound in our hearts.
We stand in solidarity with her family, friends, the football fraternity, and the entire nation as we navigate this unfathomable loss. Esther’s absence will be sorely felt, especially as a member of the team working towards the preparations for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations’ the continent’s biggest football tournament in 2027.”
The league’s chairman believes Musoke’s absence is an immense blow to not only the company but also the entire sports industry in Uganda.
“As we grieve her untimely departure, we offer our prayers and condolences to her family, praying that God grants her eternal rest and provides solace to those left behind. Esther Musoke’s presence may no longer grace our lives, but her spirit and legacy will forever be imprinted upon our hearts.”
“May she find eternal peace, and may her influence continue to inspire us in our pursuit of excellence.“
