Pastor Aloysius Bugingo

House of Prayer Ministries lead pastor Aloysius Bugingo has reportedly been rushed to Mulago Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) after being shot en route to his home according to Rubaga Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Anderson Burora.

“Attempts to End Pastor Bugingo’s life this evening failed after unknown gunmen aimed at his car this evening after Nansana. Reliable sources have confirmed that He’s out of danger,” Burora wrote on X at EAT 11.26 pm.

Other unconfirmed reports indicate that his driver only known as Richard has succumbed to the gunshot wounds. Bugingo, a prominent and controversial pastor, openly expresses his disgust for the opposition and support for the ruling government and in particular first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s presidential ambitions.

Last year Uganda recorded unprecedented gun violence cases that saw several prominent persons shot dead with almost absolute impunity. It seems 2024 has picked up from where 2023 ended.
