MOSCOW | Xinhua | Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro expressed common ground on establishing a fair world order during a phone conversation on Thursday, the Kremlin said in a statement.
“During an exchange of views on the international agenda, an emphasis was placed on the shared approaches to the establishment of a fair multipolar world order, on the rejection of illegal sanctions and interference in the internal affairs of countries,” said the statement.
Speaking by phone, the leaders of Venezuela and Russia “reviewed the excellent bilateral relationship, as well as the deep brotherhood that characterizes the strategic partnership between the two countries,” Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Yvan Gil said on X, formerly Twitter.
During the conversation, the two presidents discussed bilateral cooperation regarding energy, trade and investment, culture and humanitarian issues.
During the leaders’ conversation, “the invitation for the president of Venezuela to visit Russia in 2024 was confirmed,” Russia’s Foreign Ministry said on its social media platforms. ■
