April 16, 2016 (JUBA) – A South Sudanese Millionaire, Makiir Gai Thiep, has put his business to task to assist local South Sudanese people with health, education and medical related issues. The businessman has sponsored a number of projects in Bhar el Ghazal, his home region.
“I have opened schools and hospital in Kuacjok, Alek and Awan. I have funded many projects that are more humankind. I need just to assist weak people in this country because business I have is God given business and whatsoever I do came from people, so I have to return services to people,” said Makiir.
Makiir has drilled six hundred (600) water hand pump in entire Bhar El Ghazal region. He also has two hospitals built for public and well equipped in Alek and Awan as well donation of health equipment to Kuacjok hospital.
The fortuned man also donated several thousands of South Sudanese pounds and dollars to sport clubs, South Sudan Television (SSTV), peace and reconciliation activities as well as released inmates detained for having not paid fine in Wau town.
His secretary, Achol Deng Dau, said that the millionaire is determined to assist in the services delivery to the affected populations in the country, particularly in his home region.
“Makiir deserves more thanks. He does several wonderful donations that raise hope within the community – the donation cover sport, SSTV and peace and reconciliation as well humankind by assisting inmates and sick people across the country,” said Dau.
The billionaire, Makiir, also popularly known as ‘Kiir Gai’ owns four private banks operating in South Sudan. The tycoon has employed about 280 workers with some foreign experts serving in his banks.
The banks he owns include Alpha Bank, Charter one Bank, St-Teresa Bank and ten other money exchange bureaus in states.
