Encroachment threatens Crested crane habitat
Authorities have raised concern about the increased killing of crested cranes in Lwengo district. The remarks came at the launch of the wetland management plan in Kyazanga town council in Lwengo district. According to Adalbert Aineomucunguzi, East Africa’s manager of the International crane foundation, the degradation of wetlands affects the cranes’ habitat. He says that in the past two weeks, over 60 birds have been poisoned in Lwengo.
