Who is the new Cranes coach Sébastien Desabre
Sébastien Desabre is a French born football coach and former player. He was appointed as the Manager of the Ugandan national team, The Cranes starting on December 28, 2017.
Sébastien replaces the Serbian Coach Milutin Sredojevic (‘Micho’) who left The Cranes in July 2017 to go coach the Orlando Pirates Club in South Africa.. Micho’s departure from Uganda was clouded in many months of none payment of his salary and other benefits.
It will be interesting to see if The Cranes (FUFA) can play this game with Sébastien for the French are well known for not accepting to be taken advantage of. In any case, many Ugandans are excited about the national team new coach.
Prior to Uganda, Sébastien was coaching the Egyptian PL team Ismaily and moved from coaching ESC Rocheville in France, ASEC Mimosas in Ivory Coast, CS Garoua in Cameroon and ES Tunis in Tunisia.
He previously also coached Clube Recreativo Desportivo Libolo in Angola, Dubai Club in the United Arab Emirates, JS Saoura in Algeria and Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco.
Sébastien has signed a three-year contract with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), at a gross monthly salary of US$25,000.
This comes in time for Uganda as the country prepares for CHAN 2018 (African Nations Championship (CHAN) competition which will be held in Morocco, from 13 January 2018 until 4 February 2018. Uganda has been put in Group B which includes Zambia, Ivory Coast and Namibia.
