UGANDA: UPDF dismisses framed officers in Kangaroo court
Martha Leah Nangalama – These officers were framed. Uganda Court Martial is a kangaroo court by Museveni and even @UPDFSpokesman knows this. So does Gen. Gutti. So do many UPDF and NRM officers. I will follow up with some writings on this shortly and post on the 9 socials.
KAMPALA (@UG_EDGE) – Four soldiers have been dismissed from the national army for plotting to attack Kabamba barracks in Mubende district in 2014.
They are; Lt Col Philip Frank Eguma 42, Capt. Hillman Bosco Aleper 36, Lt Ronald Waibi Mwavu, 36 and Pt. Kenneth Sekajja, 32.
They were formerly attached to the UPDF Air Defence section in Nakasongola, Kimaka and Armoured Warfare Training School in Mubende.
Court martial chair Lt. Gen. Andrew Guti on Tuesday dismissed them from the army fearing that their continued service would jeopardise security of the country.
Although theirs is a capital offence punishable with a non -mandatory sentence of death, Guti let them off for being first offenders.
The group recently pleaded guilty to committing offences related to security while appearing before the General Court Martial based in Makindye.
They were arrested in 2014 from Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka, Luweero and Kenya while recruiting attackers.
They were reportedly organising a rebel group called “Uganda Democratic Federation” and to raid Kabamba barracks.
