UGANDA: Most jobs in Africa are going to be automted
In our #UgandaNewsBriefing group on WhatsApp, a member shared a link that Kharma (out going president of Botswana) had stepped down after a 57 stop tour.
Someone then said “do you have pictures?”
I replied: GOOGLE.
For the life of me, I do not understand why many Ugandans do not use GOOGLE.
Then another forum member replied: “we are spoon fed”.
That is the point when I should have said that kids GOOGLE what they do not know.
I swear this is a true story.
One time, I told Natasha that I was gonna sell her on eBay. She told me to give her 3 days to think about it.
The next day when I returned from work, the brat told me that it is illegal to sell kids.
AND HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS?
“Mommy Martha Leah Nangalama Nangi, I Googled it!”
So a 6yr old can search for information!
Then Uganda university graduates cannot use Google!
Come to think about it, I should really sell that little monkey.
But like the nice person that I am (towakana), I told the group that 52% of jobs in Africa will be automated. So if you do not use Google, how will you get a job in this ICT era?
This new world is knowledge based. If you cannot do basic research via Google, how will you survive?
Ugandan schools need to teach kids about the power of the Internet.
Naturally, the Internet does not have all the answers but it is a start.
Arm yourself. INFORMATION IS POWER!

Who wants to buy a kid? She will make you learn Google, Youtube and Wikipedia though.
