UGANDA introduces mandatory National / Military Service
President Yoweri Museveni must be applauded.
After all his IQ is next to God.
Many countries have mandatory national service. Serving your country is a privilege.
National Service is not military.
It is about loving your country and paying back your free education.
Through service you learn to appreciate what your government does for you.
You get to learn other skills or practice what you learned in class.
Or you get to appreciate what your parents and elders do.
Canada does not have mandatory national service. But we dedicate one day per year for “take a kid to work”. Kids go to work with a parent or other working person.
This helps kids decide on their future profession.
Dan Nangalama had national service. Every holiday, his kids had to work in the post office (UPTL) on the switch box so we could learn about Teleccommunications. Only one of his kids went into Telecom but all the others learned to be good employees at their jobs.
Look forward to national service.
