UGANDA: Govt officials steal nodding disease victims aid
Omoro district Task Force for nodding syndrome has said it is withholding food aid for the sufferers’ families until the Odek Hope for Human’s Center is reopened. South African Airways has provided eleven tons of food supplements for the children.
Earlier this month, State Minister
Health Sarah Opendi told the Omoro district leadership that government is in talks with the proprietor of Hope for Humans to reopen the center.
The parents of the affected children have accused the District Task Force officials of planning to keep the food for themselves adding that there was a batch of clothes which they kept for themselves.
The officials reject the claims and say they will monitor the distribution.
