UGANDA: Country with low GDP bans used clothing imports
Uganda’s ruling NRM thugs bans one of the most lucrative businesses to inpoverish the masses some more.
Even those arcades you want to protect as you sweep away street vendors and burn and demolish markets will cry.
Many also sell used underwear, clothes, shoes and handbags.
Last month a total stranger who sells used lingerie asked me to lend him USD $65,000. Upon inquiring about his shop, he told me it is on Luwumu street. It sells used things.
Apart from the sheer insanity of the amount he was asking to borrow, there was also the upcoming ban.
His business employees several people.
His clients are yIntelleketchos, thieves, professionals and MPigs.
This evening, Natasha and I went to her place of work to pick up a little black dress for her dinner with Andrew kesho. It suddenly occured to me that Canada will not suffer when the ban is implemented. Because us here, we wear those items and the business employees many.
Guys Frenchys is the biggest used items franchise in the 4 Maritime provinces.
We have many others like Salvation Army and Value Village. Even Winners. Items are sometimes even new and designer brands.
The GDP per capital of Uganda is $675. Canada is $55,000. Minimum wage in Uganda is none existent. Canada is USD $10-$13 per hour.
Unemployment in Uganda is 85%. Unemployment in Canada is 6.1%.
So just do the Maths. Someone fell on their head and got a concusion.
I remember 2 years ago, a friend was the best man for a wedding, I sent him $100, he bought a suit and shoes from Owino.
People in Uganda cut endubota and pay school fees, rent, food and other needs. So you are taking all that away. And which other income earning opportunities do you have for them?
The Arabs cannot import 10 million unemployed Ugandans and you cannot sell that many into slavery.
Here are some pictures I took about an hour ago.
