Opposition not too smart to defeat Museveni, says Mirundi
KAMPALA (@UG_EDGE) – Loudmouthed presidential advisor on media matters, Tamale Mirundi, says Uganda’s opposition has given up on the notion that President Museveni can be defeated.
Appearing on NBS TV this week, Mirundi said constitutions are made with mistakes for future generations to rectify.
“If we had a smart opposition, they would defeat Museveni in-spite of age limit lift,” he argued.
He rumbled on: “Every time you fear Museveni, people stick to him. Politics is about capturing power, retaining and controlling power. The opposition doesn’t believe that President Museveni is defeatable.”
On the Legal and Parliamentary Committee report about the age limit, Mirundi said what is important is constitutionalism.
He told MPs who are opposed to the age limit bill to go and mourn from their homes if they are not satisfied with what is happening.
“Those MPs should be disciplined. If they marry the woman you are in love with, do you die?” he wondered.
He added: “If a man demolishes a door, is the ventilator too much for him to handle? If Museveni removed term limits, will he fail to do the same for age limit?”
Appearing on NTV “Big Story”, Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye said he swore to protect and uphold the constitution of Uganda.
“Before the vote, I request that the speaker should allow all members to talk about this issue,” he suggested.
According to Mwijukye, when it comes to voting, opposition wants to be seen vote publically putting into consideration what people asked MPs to do.
“The population is on our side whether we are 5 or 10, Ugandans know where the best debaters seat.”
