Mystery man gives Besigye Shs10,000 for a handshake
KAMPALA (@UG_EDGE) – An unidentified man on Saturday just handed opposition figure Kizza Besigye Shs10,000 cash in exchange for a handshake.
Ronald Muhinda, an aide to Besigye, says the incident happened in West Nile district of Moyo.
Besigye was the Chief Guest at Hon. Hassan Fungaroo Kaps’ ceremony. He was boarding a ferry on River Nile.
“This gentleman walked into the passenger registration area for the Sinyanya Ferry on the Nile, pulled 10,000shs from his wallet and gave it to President Kizza Besigye,” Muhinda said.
The man told Besigye: “I know you have fuel in your car but take this little money and add fuel. Ffe tujjakuma akalulu [we will guard the vote]”.
Muhinda said the mystery man disappeared in thin air before he could know his name.
“He only asked for a handshake with Besigye and he got a smiley one,” Muhinda said.
Besigye later attended the wedding reception of Fatumah and Hassan Fungaroo Kaps in Moyo town.
On Sunday, the opposition figure attended an early morning Luo mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in Gulu town.
He read 1st and 2nd Readings and Gospel from Bible on phone while Gulu Woman MP Betty Aol Achan translated the Sermon.
Fr. Eric Justin Uma, the Parish Priest, led mass and called on all Ugandans to oppose the lifting of age limit.
He said Ugandans have a duty to defend the constitution.
