UGANDA: Opposition, let’s talk about Data
This is a long time friend who was attacked last night and all his gadgets were taken.
Let us review your security one more time.
Everything on your computer should be mirrored on your Cloud account. I used Dropbox for 5yrs. I now prefer Google Drive which is cheaper.
Your phone should back up all your activity to your Cloud account.
All your accounts should be linked to your email and phone for recovery. In case your device is taken, you still wanna remain in business.
If any of accounts are compromised, the service provider locks down the account and forces me to reset my account.
Even something as simple as me logging into anyaccount outside the Moncton area forces a “verify it is you”.
I go even further. To rest myaccounts, often the code is sent to one of the phones of my kids in case I am under duress. I do not know the mobiles of any of my kids. They get the code then call the Landline and give me the reset code.
All my electronic gadgets (and other properties) were stolen last night in a ‘raid’ at my place of residence and all my known phone numbers are off and not in my possession.
There won’t be communication with me via phone calls or social media (especially WhatsApp and Telegram) until I get new phones and renew my lines. Subsequently, please ignore all calls from those numbers.
In the meantime, all urgent communications can be passed to my email: firstname.lastname@example.org or through Messenger.
