Ssebuufu jailed 40 years, told to pay Katushabe family Shs100m

Court has sentenced Pine car bond proprietor Mohammad Ssebuufu and six others to 40 years in prison for killing businesswoman Donah Betty Katushabe in 2015.

Court has also ordered him to compensate the family of the late with Shs100m.

Last week, High Court Judge Flavia Anglin Sennoga found Sebuufu and six others guilty of the murder, kidnap and aggregated robbery.

Prosecution says Katushabe was tortured to death on October 23rd 2015 over a car debt she could not readily pay.

Evidence shows that the deceased after failing to pay the balance of 9 million shillings, Sebuufu hired a team of his security guards to pick Katushabe from her home in Bwebajja along Entebbe road and directly drove to his office from where she was kicked from and beaten with sticks there by causing grievous wounds to her body which led to her death.

Katushabe bought a car from Pine Car bond at Shs13 million but she paid only Shs5 million leaving a balance of Shs9 million.

Lwanga Steven, a special hire driver who picked the deceased from her home to meet her death, has been convicted for being an accessory and jailed 7 years.
