Uganda flooding gets worse as govt cuts down forests to grow sugar cane
1. Transport between Kaliro and Buyende districts has been paralysed following the flooding of a section of the road at Lumbuye Swamp.
The same road connects Kaliro to Kamuli District.
On Sunday, a one-kilometre stretch of the road was flooded making it difficult for motorists and pedestrians to move.
Mr Jamal Nkobe, a resident, said the flooding started last month following heavy rains that washed away culverts at the road section.
2. Sheila Nakabuye: In Kiruhura, floods have cut off roads. Those transporting milk are finding it hard to take it to their destination. People have been forced to use alternative routes which are longer.
If nothing is done about the destruction of the environment, we shall continue seeing these kinds of catastrophes.
