One of my best friends tried to teach me tennis one time. Ralf and Thierry had tried that rubbish on me before.
Here comes Grace MacCulman thinking she will succeed.
It was a hopeless situation. Grace is a very patient teacher. She is on the Board of Directors for Guyana Tennis. You should do a Google search on Guyana.
To this day, I believe that women teach better. No offense to Mr. Daniel Nangalama.
Superfast, Grace noticed what I was doing wrong on the Tennis court.
She pulled me aside.
“Nangi, stop running around like you have ants in your pants. Plant your feet firm on the groumd, look ahead and heat the ball”.
I was 1yr ahead of Grace. I proceeded to go to University of Toronto. Then drove back to Trent University to play Tennis with my mentor. Grace had also spent 3yrs teaching me how to sing. My love for her is beyond measure.
Back at Trent. The Tennis game.
GRACE: What has U of T done to my Nangi?
I was playing Tennis with one of the most accomplished Tennis players in the world.
NANGI: Well, at U of T, I take Tennis lessons and swimming at Hart House.
My Tennis instructor was a former Olympic medal holder. The way he could teach.
The swimming instructor was also a former Olympics medal holder. Except, I had learned how to swim at Pearson College. But one time while boating, we hit a rock and the boat was no good. I had to swim for a long distance and kept running out of air. So, when I went to U of T and found out that Hart House offered swimming lessons, I was game. I need to learn to swim without running out of air.
University of Toronto is an amazing school. It is ranked number 1 in Canada and 20th in the world. A lot of research and innovations come out of that school. It offers multitudes of scholarships to International students. You should consider U of T.
