Last week, I told 2 lies to my editor in Kampala.

1. It is too hot. I am going to the beach. I will have no internet access. YET, kept posting online. He knows what is automated and what I personally post. He gave me a break.

2. Second day: Leah, is it still hot in Moncton? “Oh yes boss, it is so hot you have no idea how many people are dropping dead. In fact, our electricity even died because the transformer on our road blew up”.

3. Today, about a week later, I could not remember the lies I had told him. It is so hard to remember lies. Consequently, when he told me to publish a story, I did it because I am afraid he is going to remind me of the lies from last week.
MORAL OF THE STORY… just tell the truth. Then you will never have to remember a damn thing. My editor knows how to use Google…. BITE! But he did deserve me lying to him though, he hardly ever says PLEASE or THANKS. Basically, because my editor can use Google to search for the temperature in my location in Canada, I can no longer lie. DAMN!

Maybe my editor could ask himself why I lie to him sometimes. He is a slave driver and this has been documented for nearly 7yrs now by me. He just does not get it when his employees (I am probono) say, “enough, I need a break”. Consequently, unlike his employees in Uganda who lie to him that they are sick, I just tell him that I have gone to the beach. Any employer who forces their employees to tell lies because the employer is not understanding….well, the employees will soon upgrade their CVs and you will have to train new people.
