Kampala. Music lovers will be taken on a trip down memory lane when international music star Billy Ocean hits the stage on April 2 at Kampala Serena Hotel. The British artiste billed for old school jams such as Colour of love, Suddenly, Caribbean Queen and Pressure, is an iconic songwriter and stage performer whose star shone brightest during the 1980s.
Ocean, 65, will perform for approximately 90 minutes. The concert has been dubbed Have fun and give back and part of the proceeds from the gig will go towards aiding Rahab Uganda, a charity organisation that rehabilitates and rescues young prostitutes off the streets.
One of the organisers, Mr Isaac Rucci, said the dreadlocked star will be performing exclusively in Uganda and not anywhere else in the region. British airways will be flying in his 12-man crew on April 1.
“We are privileged to be the official airline partner who will be flying in Billy Ocean and the team. We hope you come out in big numbers,” British Airways Country Commercial Manager, Faith Chaitezvi, said.
Mr Michael Mugisha, commonly known as Michael Fingaz, who has produced songs such as Bebe Cool’s successful track Love you every day, is behind bringing Ocean under his music production house called Masters’ Music. He said their bottom-line is to make money but also give back to society.
